Job summary

CSIRO is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Coordinator for the SKA-Low Telescope in Geraldton, WA. Reporting to the Senior HSE Advisor, you will support training, compliance, risk assessments and the HSE management system across on-site and remote site work, with regular travel to the SKA-Low telescope site.

This 12-month specified term role offers a pro-rata arrangement for part-time, a salary between AU$76k and AU$96k plus 15.4% superannuation, and on-the-job mentoring.

Qualifications

• A background in Health and Safety administration, training, compliance, or other project administration.
• Valid C Class Driver’s Licence.
• Skills in Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 platforms (e.g. SharePoint, Teams, Outlook).
• Experience in records management and compliance processes.
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, or practical site-based experience in a Health and Safety role.
• Willingness to undertake higher training in Occupational Health and Safety as part of ongoing professional development.
• Experience working in remote or regional locations.
• Experience collaborating with construction teams or working in a construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the implementation and ongoing review and improvement of SKAO project HSE plans, procedures and the HSE Management System.
• Supporting SKA-Low teams’ training requirements by coordinating training bookings, qualifications and certificates, maintaining training registers, and coordinating integrated team training exercises to test site Emergency Response Plans.
• Supporting teams to complete risk assessments and making recommendations to reduce risk exposure, and assisting with the timely close‑out of investigations and corrective actions.
• Supporting the SKA-Low HSE Committee by maintaining the action register and working with action owners to close out agreed tasks.
• Supporting HSE compliance, document and records management across online systems, including SharePoint, Confluence and Rapid Global, and accurately maintaining records of inspections, assurance, training and other HSE activities.
