Job summary

EnerMech, a specialist service company, invites expressions of interest for experienced HSE Advisors in the Gladstone region. You will support shutdown and maintenance campaigns across mining and heavy industry, promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with WHS legislation.

Responsibilities include onsite health, safety and environmental support, audits and inspections, risk assessments, JHAs, SWMS, and permit-to-work processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and construction white card.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience in mining, shutdown, or heavy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Providing onsite health, safety, and environmental support during shutdown and maintenance activities
  • Conducting workplace inspections, audits, and safety observations
  • Facilitating pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
  • Assisting with risk assessments, JHAs, SWMS, and permit-to-work systems
  • Investigating incidents, hazards, and near misses
  • Monitoring compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements
  • Supporting injury management and return-to-work programs
  • Coaching and mentoring supervisors and work crews on safe work practices
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and positive safety outcomes

Are you an experienced HSE Advisor looking for your next opportunity in the mining and heavy industrial sector?

We are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from motivated and safety‑focused Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisors for upcoming shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance projects across mining and industrial operations in the Gladstone region.

These opportunities will support major maintenance campaigns and shutdown activities, offering the chance to work with leading clients in a dynamic and safety‑critical environment.

About the Role

As an HSE Advisor, you will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with client, company, and legislative requirements.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing onsite health, safety, and environmental support during shutdown and maintenance activities
  • Conducting workplace inspections, audits, and safety observations
  • Facilitating pre‑start meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
  • Assisting with risk assessments, JHAs, SWMS, and permit‑to‑work systems
  • Investigating incidents, hazards, and near misses
  • Monitoring compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements
  • Supporting injury management and return‑to‑work programs
  • Coaching and mentoring supervisors and work crews on safe work practices
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and positive safety outcomes
What We're Looking For

To be successful, you will ideally possess:

  • Previous experience as an HSE Advisor within mining, shutdown, maintenance, construction, or heavy industry environments
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments
  • A proactive approach to safety leadership and workforce engagement
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
Essential Qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement)
  • Construction White Card
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment medicals and drug & alcohol screening
Highly Regarded
  • Diploma or higher qualification in WHS, Safety, Occupational Health, or a related discipline
  • Mining and shutdown experience
  • ICAM or TapRooT investigation training
  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator experience
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space certification
  • Experience with contractor management systems and permit‑to‑work processes
  • Queensland mining site experience
