Job summary

UGL is seeking an HSE Advisor for its Regional & Remote Telecommunications business. In this role, you will support project teams and contractors to implement HSE systems and ensure compliance while promoting a proactive safety culture.

This role is based in Tullamarine and offers hybrid working arrangements with periodic site visits. Applicants should be experienced in high-risk industries and possess a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.

Job description

We are seeking an HSE Advisor to support our Regional & Remote Telecommunications business. Reporting to the Senior HSE Advisor, you will work closely with project teams, supervisors and contractors to implement HSE systems, maintain compliance and promote a proactive safety culture.

Based in Tullamarine, this role combines HSE systems and compliance activities with practical operational support. Much of the work is completed remotely, supported by periodic site visits for audits, inspections and stakeholder engagement.

You'll provide advice and guidance across a range of operational risks, including working at heights, vehicle and driving activities, remote work, contractor management and other critical risk controls. This role will suit someone who enjoys being a trusted HSE Advisor and values practical problem-solving, strong stakeholder relationships and helping teams work safely.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain HSE Management Plans, Risk Registers, SWMS and project compliance documentation.
• Conduct audits, inspections and assurance activities, both remotely and on site.
• Facilitate incident investigations, corrective actions and risk management processes.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing safety support to operational teams and contractors.
• Monitor HSE performance, client requirements and continuous improvement initiatives across projects.

Travel Requirements

Given the remoteness of some works, audits and investigations will predominantly be conducted via desktop, with only occasional travel (approximately 3-4 days per month).

About you

You are a proactive and solutions-focused HSE professional who enjoys building relationships and influencing positive safety outcomes.

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent), White Card and current Driver's Licence.
• Experience in an HSE role within telecommunications, construction, utilities or another high-risk industry.
• Strong knowledge of HSE systems, compliance requirements and risk management processes.
• Confident communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with employees, contractors and clients.
• Organised and self-motivated, with the ability to balance field engagement and administrative responsibilities.
