Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC is seeking an HR Officer to support recruitment and rostering across the Loddon region prisons. The role involves end-to-end recruitment, preparing contracts, and ensuring staff are onboarded smoothly.

Travel between prisons is required, with weekend and public holiday work possible. A qualification in HR is highly regarded; CHRIS21 experience is preferred. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of employment laws, policies and procedures.
• Experience in human resources, recruitment and HR systems such as CHRIS21.
• Flexibility to manage changing needs, solve problems and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate end-to-end recruitment, from job ads and shortlisting to interviews and referee checks.
• Prepare job documents, track contracts and help new staff settle into their roles.
• Give clear and timely advice on recruitment, pay and employment rules.
• Keep staff records up to date and report on current and future vacancies.
• Support accurate records, probation checks and rostering tasks while meeting deadlines.
