Job summary

BMD Group is seeking an HR Officer to join the Darwin Ship Lift Project team. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will provide recruitment and HR administration support across the project, partnering with leaders and employees to deliver a high-quality people experience in a dynamic construction environment.

This role suits a proactive HR professional with tertiary HR qualifications, experience in recruitment and HR coordination, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline.
• Experience in recruitment, HR coordination or HR administration.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn new systems.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Professional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Proactive attitude and ownership of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end recruitment for blue and white-collar roles.
• Lead talent attraction initiatives, market mapping and talent pooling.
• Assess candidates against BMD values, culture and technical requirements.
• Provide advice and support to managers on recruitment and HR matters.
• Support employee engagement, retention and workforce development initiatives.
• Coordinate training and professional development, maintain training records.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders, external agencies and training providers.
• Maintain Indigenous Participation Strategies and support Reconciliation Action Plan initiatives.
• Manage project reporting relating to training, workforce participation and government compliance.
• Assist with HR administration, employee movements and payroll-related enquiries.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the HR function.
