Qualifications

  • Five years' experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Experience in civil construction/resources/mining is valued.
  • Knowledge of Fair Work Act, NES and modern awards.
  • Experience across recruitment, onboarding, performance, ER and offboarding.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide HR and IR advice to leaders and staff.
  • Lead workforce planning, development, succession and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, systems and compliance.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for Garli Group entities.
  • Prepare contracts, amendments and HR records.
  • Support learning and career progression initiatives.
  • Identify HR process improvements and drive efficiencies.
  • Assist with workers' compensation processes and claims.
  • Support change initiatives and positive culture.

As a result of our continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and experienced HR Manager / Advisor to support our leadership team across a broad range of human resources and recruitment functions. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to organisational growth, workforce development, change initiatives, and the ongoing enhancement of our people and culture practices.

About the Role

The HR Manager / Advisor will provide practical, solutions-focused HR support across the employee lifecycle while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide trusted HR and industrial relations advice, coaching, and support to leaders and employees.
  • Assist with workforce planning, organisational development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, systems, and compliance frameworks.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment activities, including advertising, screening, interviewing, onboarding, and induction of all Garli Group Entities
  • Prepare and maintain employment contracts, contract amendments, personnel records, and HR documentation.
  • Support learning and development initiatives and career progression opportunities across the business.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and implement efficiencies.
  • Assist with the early management and administration of workers' compensation matters, including claim lodgement and management of minor claims.
  • Support organisational change initiatives and contribute to fostering a positive workplace culture.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive and adaptable HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships and delivering practical outcomes.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum five years' experience in a generalist HR Advisor or similar position.
  • Previous experience within the civil construction, resources, mining, or related industries is highly regarded.
  • Sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, and modern awards.
  • Demonstrated experience across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Current Australian driver's licence (minimum C Class).
  • Unlimited working rights within Australia.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline, or currently working towards one.
  • Experience using My Recruitment Plus or similar recruitment and applicant tracking systems.
  • Experience supporting organisational growth, integration, or change management initiatives.
