Job description

Our client is a well-established organisation within the not-for-profit sector, providing important community services across the Tweed and Northern Rivers.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this is an influential role combining strategic HR partnering with hands‑on operational delivery. You’ll work closely with leaders across the organisation, providing trusted advice, coaching and practical HR solutions while helping to strengthen culture, capability and the overall employee experience.

The Opportunity

This is a great role for an experienced HR Business Partner or HR leader who enjoys variety. One day you may be coaching a manager through a complex employee relations matter, and the next you could be improving an HR process, supporting recruitment, developing a learning initiative or contributing to a broader organisational change project.

You will have the opportunity to influence how People & Culture is delivered across the organisation, with a strong focus on contemporary HR practices, continuous improvement and building a positive and inclusive workplace.

Key Responsibilities

In this broad role, you will:

  • Partner with senior leaders to align people strategies with organisational priorities
  • Provide practical advice and coaching across employee relations, performance, workplace matters and HR best practice
  • Manage and continually improve recruitment, selection and onboarding processes
  • Support workforce planning, capability development and succession planning
  • Develop and coordinate learning and professional development initiatives
  • Support performance review processes and coach managers in effective performance conversations
  • Drive employee engagement, culture and employee experience initiatives
  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, WHS requirements and relevant employment legislation
  • Review and improve HR policies, procedures, systems and employee lifecycle processes
  • Support the implementation and ongoing development of HR technology and HRIS capability
  • Oversee workers compensation claims and Return to Work processes
  • Contribute to wellbeing, inclusion and psychological safety initiatives
  • Support organisational change, restructures and broader organisational development projects

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to balance competing priorities
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach and genuine interest in improving the employee experience
  • The ability to build trust quickly and become a valued advisor to leaders and employees

Experience across workers compensation, Return to Work, HR systems implementation, organisational development or change management will also be highly regarded.
