Sims Limited seeks an HR Advisor to support our operational workforce across Victoria and New South Wales. Based in Brooklyn, VIC, you will partner with leaders to deliver practical people solutions that drive performance, engagement and business success.

Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, you’ll advise on employee relations, recruitment, coaching, development and workforce planning, helping leaders build capable teams in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in an HR Advisor, HR Coordinator, or Generalist HR role.
• Exposure to employee relations and employment legislation.
• Confident providing practical HR advice across a variety of workplace matters.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence leaders.
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong commercial awareness.
• Experience with HR systems and Microsoft Office; SuccessFactors preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical, commercially focused HR advice to leaders across a broad range of people matters.
• Build strong relationships with managers and employees, acting as a trusted HR contact.
• Coach leaders on people management and decision-making best practices.
• Support employee relations matters including performance management, conduct, attendance, grievances and investigations.
• Assist with recruitment activities and onboarding processes to attract and retain talent.
• Contribute to workforce planning, retention initiatives and development planning.

We're looking for a passionate and proactive HR Advisor to join our team and play a key role in supporting our operational workforce across Victoria and New South Wales. Based in Brooklyn, VIC, this is an exciting opportunity to work closely with leaders on the ground, providing practical people solutions that help drive performance, engagement, and business success.

Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, you'll be a trusted advisor to operational leaders, partnering across everything from employee relations and recruitment through to coaching, development, and workforce planning.

This is much more than a traditional HR support role.

This hands-on role will see you supporting leaders with employee relations matters, performance management, workforce issues, and the ongoing development of their teams.

• Provide practical, commercially focused HR advice to leaders across a broad range of people matters.
• Build strong relationships with managers and employees, becoming a trusted point of contact for HR support.
• Coach leaders on people management best practice and decision-making.
• Support a variety of employee relations matters, including performance management, conduct, attendance, grievances, and workplace investigations.
• Assist leaders to resolve people issues fairly, consistently, and in line with legislative requirements and company policies.
• Contribute to positive workplace outcomes through early intervention and proactive support
• Partner with leaders on recruitment activities to attract and secure great talent.
• Support onboarding and induction processes to ensure a positive employee experience from day one.
• Assist with workforce planning and retention initiatives.
• Support performance review cycles, probation processes, and development planning.
• Contribute to employee engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion initiatives that strengthen workplace culture.
• Help create an environment where people can do their best work and continue to grow.
• Maintain accurate HR records, reporting, and employee documentation.
• Support HR systems administration and process improvements.
• Collaborate with the wider HR team on business-wide projects and strategic people initiatives.

You'll bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of experience in an HR Advisor, HR Coordinator, or Generalist HR role.
• Exposure to employee relations and employment legislation.
• Confidence providing practical HR advice and support across a variety of workplace matters.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence and build credibility with leaders.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong commercial awareness.
• Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
• Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with SuccessFactors will be highly regarded.
