Job summary

Department of Communities and Justice in Sydney District is seeking a Housing Operations Manager to lead strategic and operational housing services across Sydney's diverse communities. The role covers Waterloo, Redfern or Strawberry Hills office locations, with temporary full-time employment up to 2 years.

You will provide leadership to frontline teams, drive performance, manage resources and partner with stakeholders to reduce homelessness and improve client outcomes within Homes NSW.

• Manage resources, budgets, workforce planning and operational priorities to achieve organisational objectives.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with community partners, local stakeholders, government agencies and senior leaders.
• Provide expert advice and support to Directors and senior management on operational performance, risks, opportunities and emerging issues
• Foster a positive workplace culture focused on accountability, inclusion, collaboration and continuous improvement.

• Employment type – Temporary Full Time, up to 2 years with possibility of extension
• Salary – Clerk Grade 11/12, salary range $154,231 - $178,369 pa, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

Join one of the largest and most dynamic districts within Homes NSW, leading operational housing services across Sydney's diverse and rapidly evolving communities. Sydney District encompasses a broad range of housing environments, from high-density inner-city communities to established public housing estates, and plays a critical role in delivering quality housing services and support to some of the most vulnerable people in NSW.

As Manager Housing Operations, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to frontline service delivery teams, ensuring housing services are responsive, effective and focused on achieving positive outcomes for clients and communities. You will lead the delivery of key operational priorities, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support a high-performing and customer-focused workforce.

Working closely with Directors, stakeholders and service partners, you will contribute to the district's strategic direction while fostering a strong culture of collaboration, accountability and service excellence.

What you’ll do

As part of Homes NSW, you will lead the delivery of housing services that support vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds to access safe, secure and sustainable housing. You will play a key role in strengthening communities, improving client outcomes and contributing to efforts to reduce homelessness across NSW.

You will:

• Lead, manage and develop frontline housing teams to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services.

• Lead and implement change initiatives, service improvements and strategic projects that enhance client outcomes and business performance.

• Willingness to travel across Sydney District locations as required.
• Capacity to work from a District office approximately 3-4 days per week.
