Job summary

National Affordable Housing Ltd is seeking an onsite Housing Officer based at a Cheltenham residential building, Melbourne. You will manage tenancies, coordinate inspections, and connect residents with community opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with trades and contractors.

You will handle rents, records, and compliance, with periodic travel to Mount Waverley, Moonee Ponds, and Geelong. A driver’s license and professional communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end property management, including leases, inspections, maintenance and arrears.

Responsibilities

• Establishing, maintaining and sustaining tenancies.
• Facilitating and conducting property inspections within required timeframes.
• Timely upkeep of tenancy records, including applications, renewals and agreements, bond lodgements, condition reports, and more.
• Maintaining rent arrears to an acceptable level.
• Addressing resident enquiries, VCAT and managing breaches sensitively, efficiently and effectively.
• Coordinating maintenance, including liaising with contractors for appointments and key management.
• Working with stakeholders to complete rent reviews and connect residents with their support environment.
• Managing invoices and liaising with finance to ensure they are provided and paid in a timely manner.
• Ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant legislation, contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Following the social housing service model to achieve positive outcomes for residents.

About the Role

Based at a residential apartment building at Cheltenham, this onsite Housing Officer will work to create a welcoming, safe, and supportive residential community, linking social housing residents with opportunities, connections and activities in the surrounding area. The role will provide end-to-end tenancy management of this portfolio, ensuring that the building is well maintained and building positive relationships with trades and contractors, whilst working within a small team of dedicated onsite social Housing Officers across greater Melbourne.

Travel Requirements

This position, whilst primarily located at the Cheltenham site, also includes periodic rostered work at Mount Waverley, Moonee Ponds, and Geelong.
