Job summary

Home Group is seeking a dedicated Night Security Officer for North Shields on a 9-month maternity cover. You will patrol buildings, monitor CCTV and fire safety, greet visitors, and respond to incidents. Your role supports vulnerable customers and maintains secure, pleasant environments.

You will be the first line of contact when the wider team is unavailable, using calm communication and good judgement to intervene sensitively. DBS check required, benefits include health plan and pension.

Responsibilities

Here at Home Group we look after vulnerable customers, but also those with quite complex care needs. Your job will be to make sure our customers are safe, our buildings are secure and pleasant places to be, and that we get on with our neighbours.

Typical shift

• Walk around the building checking CCTV, fire doors and communal areas
• Greeting customers and visitors, picking up repairs or cleaning
• The first line of support for our customers when our wider team or their own support network aren’t around to help!
• Monitor and respond to incidents calmly, quickly and fairly
• Work with colleagues and partners to manage anti-social behaviour

Job details

• Working from our service in North Shields on a temporary basis covering maternity leave (9 months contract)
• Working 8pm to 8am, 37.5 hours per week on a 4 week rolling rota
• Although you’ll work nights / lone work, we do get together regularly [in the daytime] for training and team meetings
• Able to use technology to monitor CCTV, update records and communicate with colleagues
• You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done (we pay for it)
