You will work closely with regional asset managers, contractors, and technical stakeholders to oversee building standards, maintenance quality, and regulatory compliance. Through inspections, audits, and technical assessments, you will identify risks, investigate defects, and drive effective corrective actions. You will also contribute to improving asset management processes and strengthening quality assurance frameworks across a diverse housing portfolio. This is an opportunity to apply your building and construction expertise to meaningful projects while supporting the delivery of safe, sustainable, and well-maintained homes. The position offers a collaborative working environment, a strong social purpose, and opportunities to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Accountabilities
  • Conduct property inspections, technical audits, and quality assurance reviews to ensure housing assets meet relevant safety, building compliance, and quality standards.
  • Review maintenance activities, contractor scopes of work, technical documentation, and completion records to verify compliance with building regulations and internal requirements.
  • Identify, investigate, document, and manage building defects, coordinating appropriate corrective actions and monitoring their timely resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance and expert advice to regional asset managers and operational teams on building compliance, maintenance practices, and asset standards.
  • Assess new developments, property acquisitions, and asset handovers to ensure properties meet required specifications and are suitable for their intended use.
  • Monitor contractor performance and workmanship, identify non-compliant activities, and support the resolution of technical and quality-related issues.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, compliance assessments, audit findings, and practical recommendations to support risk management and informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of asset standards, quality assurance procedures, and compliance frameworks across the housing portfolio.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of building compliance, construction practices, property maintenance, the National Construction Code (NCC), and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in building inspections, asset management, construction quality assurance, maintenance compliance, or a related technical field.
  • Proven ability to identify building defects, evaluate workmanship, assess technical risks, and recommend practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation, including building plans, specifications, contractor scopes, and compliance certificates.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, technical specialists, and operational teams.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
  • Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence.
  • Willingness and availability to travel as required by project and operational needs.
  • Ability to successfully complete national police history, qualification, and reference checks, as well as obtain the required clearance to work with children and vulnerable people.
Benefits

  • Additional leave: Option to purchase extra annual leave.
  • Extra time off: Additional leave days, including an annual appreciation day and a work anniversary day.
  • Wellbeing support: Free, confidential external counselling services and access to chaplaincy support.
