Job summary

The Merchant Hotel Brisbane is seeking an experienced Part Time Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team. This hands-on supervisory role focuses on leading the housekeeping team and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation for guest rooms and public areas.

You will train and coach staff, coordinate daily priorities, monitor supplies, and ensure safe work practices. Weekend and public holiday availability is required to support a boutique hotel environment in Brisbane.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel housekeeping and supervisory roles.
• Able to prioritise daily workloads and maintain standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the housekeeping team on a daily basis.
• Allocate room and cleaning duties and monitor completion.
• Conduct inspections of guest rooms and public areas.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.
• Work hands-on with the team to service guest rooms when required.
• Train, coach and support new and existing team members.
• Monitor linen, cleaning products and housekeeping supplies.
• Report maintenance issues and follow up as required.
• Assist with managing daily housekeeping priorities and room turnaround.
• Ensure safe work practices and WHS requirements are followed.
• Maintain a positive and professional team environment.
• Work closely with Reception and Hotel Management to respond to guest requirements.

About the Role

As the Housekeeping Supervisor, you will assist with the day-to-day operation of the housekeeping department, ensuring guest rooms and public areas are cleaned and presented to a high standard.

You will lead by example, coordinate the housekeeping team and work closely with Hotel Management and other departments to ensure an excellent guest experience.

• Has previous supervisory or team leader experience, preferably within a hotel

• Is confident leading and supporting a team

• Has a positive, reliable and hands‑on approach

• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Can work independently and as part of a team

• Is flexible to work weekends and public holidays as required
