Job summary

St Columba’s College in Melbourne's Catholic school community invites an experienced, student-centred educator to join the Wellbeing Team as a House Leader. This POL3 leadership role supports belonging, pride and engagement across the seven-house system and aligns with the College’s values.

You will collaborate with the Director of Students, Head of Students, House Leaders, Learning and Teaching Team and House Group Teachers to lead pastoral care, coordinate assemblies and House activities,

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in student wellbeing, pastoral care and/or student leadership within a secondary school setting.
• Ability to build authentic, respectful and positive relationships with students, staff and families.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire student engagement, participation and a sense of belonging.
• Experience applying restorative practices and responding effectively to complex student wellbeing needs.
• Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively across the College.
• A commitment to mentoring and empowering young people to develop leadership skills and contribute positively to their community.
• A commitment to using contemporary practice, research and student data to inform wellbeing and pastoral initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of pastoral care programs, assemblies, House activities and events that promote participation, connection and College pride.
• Monitor and respond to the academic, emotional, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing of students, working collaboratively with staff and families to support individual needs.
• Build strong and respectful relationships with students, staff and families, while supporting the implementation of restorative practices and contemporary approaches to student wellbeing.
• Mentor and empower House Captains, House Representatives and other student leaders, creating opportunities for students to contribute meaningfully to College life.
• Work collaboratively across the College to support student learning and development, strengthen communication and celebrate the achievements of students and the broader House community.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and student-centred educator to join our Wellbeing Team as a House Leader. This key leadership position plays an important role in fostering a strong sense of belonging, pride and engagement across the College through our seven-house system.

Working collaboratively with the Director of Students, Head of Students, House Leaders, Learning and Teaching Team and House Group Teachers, the House Leader provides leadership in the academic care, wellbeing and personal development of students within their House. The role also supports student leadership, House activities and events, positive relationships and meaningful participation in College life.

This is a POL3 position for 2027 (when all POLs are due for renewal), with an ongoing teaching appointment.

As the House Leader, you will:
