Hotel Grounds and Maintenance Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, hands-on and motivated Hotel Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our team at Quality Hotel Robertson Gardens.

This full-time position is primarily responsible for maintaining the hotel's grounds, gardens, lawns and outdoor areas to a high standard. The role includes regular lawn mowing, gardening, minor landscaping and general groundskeeping to ensure the property remains attractive, clean, safe and welcoming for our guests.

In addition to groundskeeping duties, the successful applicant will assist with minor building repairs and general property maintenance as required.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in the presentation of a property and is comfortable undertaking a variety of practical tasks independently.

Key Responsibilities
Groundskeeping, Gardening & Lawn Maintenance

• Maintain lawns through regular mowing, edging, trimming and general lawn care.

• Maintain gardens, garden beds, hedges, shrubs and landscaped areas.

• Carry out weeding, pruning, mulching, planting and seasonal garden maintenance.

• Undertake minor landscaping projects and garden improvements.

• Maintain courtyards, outdoor guest areas, pathways, driveways and BBQ areas.

• Keep outdoor areas clean, tidy and free of leaves, rubbish and debris.

• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, reporting faults or arranging repairs as required.

• Safely operate and maintain lawnmowers, brush cutters, blowers and other gardening equipment.

• Assist with improving the overall appearance and presentation of the hotel's grounds.

• Identify and report outdoor hazards, damaged surfaces and maintenance issues.

Building & General Property Maintenance

• Carry out minor building repairs and general maintenance across the property.

• Undertake basic painting, patching, minor carpentry and other general repairs.

• Assist with maintaining doors, fixtures, fittings, furniture and outdoor structures.

• Complete minor repairs to fences, garden edging, pathways and external property features.

• Assist with routine property inspections and preventative maintenance.

• Report significant defects, safety hazards and repairs requiring specialist contractors.

• Assist external contractors with grounds, landscaping and property maintenance works when required.

General Duties

• Maintain gardening equipment, tools and storage areas in a clean and organised condition.

• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and safe work practices.

• Manage daily tasks efficiently and prioritise work according to property needs.

• Work with the hotel team to minimise disruption to guests.

• Complete other reasonable groundskeeping and general maintenance duties as directed by management.

About You

• Previous experience in gardening, groundskeeping, lawn maintenance or landscaping.

• Practical knowledge of lawn care, garden maintenance and outdoor property presentation.

• Ability to undertake minor landscaping and general maintenance tasks.

• Comfortable operating gardening machinery and using hand and power tools safely.

• Physically fit and capable of outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a well-presented property.

• Good time management and problem-solving skills.

• Current driver's licence preferred.

• Relevant horticultural, landscaping or trade qualifications will be highly regarded.
