Job summary

Accor is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Finance to lead the Accounts Department in a Queensland hotel. You will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure accurate financial and operational reporting, support budgeting and forecasts, and manage payroll, debt, and compliance.

This role requires a degree in Accounting/Finance or Commerce, CA/CPA qualification, and hotel finance experience.

Qualifications

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce; CA or CPA qualified (or working towards it).
• Experience in hotel or hospitality finance, ideally in a supervisory or assistant controller role.
• Strong knowledge of hotel accounting systems, reconciliations, month-end processes and internal controls.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
• The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance managers.
• Experience with Accor policies or audit programs is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Accounts Department day to day, managing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Stores teams.
• Run bi-weekly Finance Office briefings and monthly Finance Department meetings.
• Build cross-training and succession planning across finance roles.
• Prepare daily interface journals and balance ledgers with the General Ledger.
• Approve AP journals and creditor payments, oversee inventory-to-payables interface.
• Prepare month-end journals for wages, accruals, prepayments, stock movements and allocations.
• Complete monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts to trial balance.
• Oversee debt collection and bad debt provisioning per guidelines.
• Manage travel agent and frequent flyer commission accruals and payments.
• Deliver timely reporting including operating statements, budget reports and wage analysis.
• Assist with owner’s half-yearly and year-end financial schedules.
