Job summary

Silverchain is seeking Home Care Workers to provide home help and personal care to aged care clients on the Sunshine Coast. Expect general housekeeping, meal prep, and direct personal care support, including medication assistance and mobility help.

You will work with clients to deliver compassionate, safe, and respectful care, with CPR and First Aid training provided. Be part of a not-for-profit organisation investing in care innovation.

Qualifications

• A valid Australian Driver’s Licence and your own insured, roadworthy vehicle.
• Certificate III or above in Aged Care or Individual Support (Aged Care) or (Ageing/Disability).
• 6+ months’ experience in a similar role, with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

Responsibilities

• General housekeeping: making beds, cleaning floors and laundry.
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.
• Providing personal care: help with bed, shower, dressing, and medications.
• Supporting mobility and therapy goals and social/emotional support.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for people who:

• Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
• Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

• A valid Australian Driver’s Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Certificate III or above in Aged Care or Individual Support (Aged Care) or (Ageing/Disability)
• Experience of 6 months or more in a similar role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker, you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

• General housekeeping and making beds
• Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
• Washing, folding and ironing laundry
• Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

• Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
• Assisting clients to take their medications
• Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
• Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
• Providing social and emotional support
• Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
• Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
