Job summary

Austin Health in Melbourne's northern suburbs invites applications for HMOs in the General stream as HMO3 General. The role offers rotations across Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Cardiology, and a six-month obstetrics and gynaecology rotation at Mercy Hospital for Women.

Under registrars and senior medical staff, you'll participate in admission, management and discharge, work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality care, and communicate clearly

Qualifications

• Be registered (or able to be registered) with AHPRA.
• Be dedicated to delivering excellent patient care.
• Be dedicated to teaching, training and developing strong, well-functioning teams.
• Be able to provide a current Working with Children check.

Responsibilities

• Under the guidance of registrars and senior medical staff, participate as required in the admission, management and safe discharge of patients of the assigned unit.
• Work collaboratively as a team member with senior medical staff, junior medical staff, nursing and other staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care.
• Facilitate excellent communication and liaison with other staff, general practitioners and others involved in patient care
• Communicate clearly and simply with patients, their families and carers, the basis of diagnosis, course of disorder and proposed treatment options in a way that ensures understanding and empowers involvement in decision-making about their care

About the role

HMOs in the General stream can complete a variety of rotations, including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Cardiology, and Hospital in the Home. We can also offer a six-month rotation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Mercy Hospital for Women.

A regular day will see you:
