Job summary

NSW Health Pathology seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Anatomical Pathology Department at Royal North Shore Hospital on a permanent full-time basis. This role involves histology investigations (manual/automated), tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and staining, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency in a busy

Qualifications

• Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution with relevance to histopathology or medical laboratory operations
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering histopathology services including use of LIS, patient systems and quality systems
• Ability to work efficiently, manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
• Able to work in a team and autonomously to deliver results within timeframes
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication with customers, patients and staff
• Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills within a pathology laboratory

Responsibilities

• Perform histology laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) applying established methods and procedures
• Process tissue samples, embed, section paraffin blocks and stain incl. special stains
• Undertake additional lab duties including preparation of materials and equipment maintenance per established processes
