Job summary

Stowe Australia is seeking a High Voltage Electrical Technician with hands-on experience in maintaining, testing and servicing HV equipment across various brands. You will work with a blue-chip client base and demonstrate strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.

The role covers preventative and reactive maintenance, HV switching procedures and compliance with safety standards. Applicants must hold an A-Grade Electrical Trade Qualification and current HV certification, with experience on

Qualifications

• High Voltage experience with HV assets and safety clearances.
• Ability to read single-line diagrams, schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience in maintenance, testing and commissioning of HV/LV equipment would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and proactive/reactive repair on HV/LV switchgear, transformers, switchboards, SCADA systems and cables.
• Conduct HV switchgear testing incl. primary/secondary injection on boards, transformers, motors, generators and protection relays.
• Develop HV switching procedures and perform safe electrical isolations and high voltage switching with permits.

Job description

One of Australia’s largest electrical & communications contractors is looking to engage the services of a High Voltage Electrical Technician with experience in maintaining, testing and servicing of High Voltage equipment.

You will need to demonstrate a strong background in the maintaining and testing of High Voltage equipment dealing largely with a Blue-Chip client base.

You will need to be able to perform your works across several different brands of equipment and have strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventative and Reactive maintenance on HV LV switchgear, transformers, Switchboards, SCADA Systems and cables.
• Testing & Commissioning: Conduct primary/secondary injection, on Switchboards, Transformers, Motors, Generators, Capacitor Banks and protection relay testing.
• Switching Operations: Able to develop HV Switching Procedures and execute safe electrical isolations and high voltage switching and issue relevant permits.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow strict safety rules, complete risk assessments, and write service reports, developing of job specific JSA’s, SWMS and Safety documents.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Trade License: A-Grade Electrical Trade Qualification or equivalent.
• HV Certification: High Voltage Switching Operator certificate (current).
• Experience: Hands‑on background working with industrial or utility HV/LV electrical assets.
• Skills: Ability to read single‑line diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Diagnostics: Thermography, Ultrasonic or any other condition monitoring certifications would be an advantage.

Applicants will only be considered if they have High Voltage experience and has all the necessary clearances and visa requirements to work in Australia.

Remuneration and package will be developed depending on abilities and experience based on current Victorian ETU EBA conditions.
