  • Support a high school student who needs a bit of one-on-one time with a caring adult.
  • Enjoy getting to know each other through chats, games and/or fun activities.
  • Offer guidance, encouragement and a positive outlook if they are facing challenges.
  • Spend one hour a week together at school with the support of staff and EdConnect.

  • You enjoy connecting: Able to interact warmly with children, school staff, and fellow volunteers. You enjoy connecting with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • You are a team player: Ready to collaborate and contribute to a dedicated team.
  • You are reliable: Punctual and dependable, ensuring a consistent listening ear for the student.
  • You are happy to complete screening and training: We will support you to complete the screening checks and training modules we need to keep students safe.

Requirements:

  • A belief in young people’s potential and a willingness to share your time and patience.
  • Consistency and reliability to be there for students when they need it most.
  • We will assist you to get a Working with Children Check and Education Police Clearance.

Commitment

Regular - more than 6 months

Training

You’ll have access to friendly, easy-to-understand training workshops to get started. Ongoing support will be available to ensure you feel confident and connected throughout the school year.

Time required

Short time, big difference! From one hour a week on a day that works for both you and the school, during school terms.

Reimbursement

Screening checks are paid for by us and/or reimbursed.
