Job summary

Transport Canberra is seeking motivated Heavy Vehicle Mechanics to join our workshop teams in Canberra. Whether you are already qualified in heavy vehicles or transitioning from light vehicle work, this is a long-term career with development opportunities in a public sector environment.

You will work on a diverse fleet and contribute to the transition to zero-emission vehicle technology, with training, safety and overtime opportunities, and clear progression paths within the ACT Government.

Qualifications

• Hold a qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Light Vehicle Mechanic.
• Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, servicing and repair activities across a broad range of fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs while maintaining safety standards.
• Prioritise tasks to maximise fleet reliability and vehicle availability.
• Work collaboratively with team members to deliver quality outcomes within required timeframes.
• Assist with fleet improvement initiatives and special projects.
• Contribute to a positive workplace culture focused on safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Work rostered shifts across Transport Canberra workshop locations as required.
