Job summary

Workfast is seeking a qualified Boilermaker to join a leading engineering company in Chipping Norton, NSW. This hands-on role focuses on fabrication, welding, repair and modification of heavy components for rail and industrial applications.

You will perform MIG, TIG and MMAW welding, read engineering drawings, and ensure safety and quality in a busy workshop. The position offers consistent full-time hours, a temp-to-perm path, and an immediate start.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Boilermaker / Heavy Fabricator (Cert III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent)
• Strong heavy engineering aptitude and hands-on workshop experience
• Experience in structural steel fabrication, component repair, and welding (rail, mining, heavy transport, or industrial)
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Physically fit, reliable, and committed to high-quality workmanship
• Forklift licence and overhead crane ticket (preferred but not essential)

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, weld, and modify heavy components used in rail and heavy engineering applications
• Perform MIG, TIG, and MMAW welding to strict industry standards
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld specifications accurately
• Conduct structural inspections, gouging, grinding, and defect repairs
• Assist with general workshop tasks and maintain a clean, safe work area
• Safely operate workshop machinery, overhead cranes, and hand/power tools
