Job summary

Superior HDD is seeking a dedicated heavy diesel / mobile plant mechanic to service drilling equipment across NSW. The role involves working away from home, attending breakdowns and on-site servicing of drill rigs, mud pumps and support vehicles.

You will diagnose faults, manage repairs, and coordinate with site supervisors to plan maintenance. A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and strict WHS compliance is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with heavy vehicles and earthmoving equipment.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Demonstrated teamwork in a field environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic fault finding on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems on drill rigs and related equipment.
• Manage breakdown repairs and servicing of equipment.
• Maintain maintenance reporting and liaise with site supervisor and operations manager for work plans.
• Complete parts requests and ensure no downtime.
• Adhere to WHS standards and company policies.

Job description

Superior HDD is a horizontal directional drilling company working on large and complex Civil, Water, Telecommunication, Electrical and Railway projects. SHDD currently operates 6 different HDD drill rigs of various sizes. The rigs are supported by a modern fleet of MR, HR, HC trucks, excavators, mud recycling systems, and high flow mud pumps.

We are currently seeking a dedicated heavy diesel / mobile plant mechanic who is familiar with the requirements of servicing and supporting drilling equipment in various job locations and areas. Superior HDD currently complete various projects across NSW. This position will entail working away from home , attending to breakdown and service requirements on site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Diagnostic fault finding on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems on drill rigs, mud pumps, heavy vehicles and earthmoving equipment

Manage breakdown repairs and servicing of equipment

Maintenance reporting and liaising with the site supervisor and operations manager for all work plans

Complete parts request, managing fleet service and critical part requirements to ensure there is no down time

Be proactive in all preventative maintenance including planning and communication to the drill crew

Complete all work as per WHS standards and company policies and procedures

Skills and Experience:

Experience working on heavy vehicles and earthmoving equipment.

Experience working on support equipment such as Kubota,Kenworth, Western Star, Hino, Isuzu, Volvo, etc..

Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Demonstrated abilities to work within a team environment
