Job summary

WesTrac is hiring multiple Heavy Diesel Mechanics - Field Service across regional Western Australia. You will work on Caterpillar equipment across mine sites, ports and regional operations, performing diagnostics, repairs and scheduled maintenance.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Plant Mechanic, Heavy Diesel or Auto Electrical.
• Field service experience on Caterpillar equipment preferred.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
• Valid LR or higher driver’s licence is required.
• Commitment to safety, accountability and teamwork.
• HRWL tickets desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform field-based diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on Caterpillar equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
• Work independently in the field while supported by a high-performing team.
• Service fleet including haul trucks, loaders, graders, dozers & ancillary equipment.
• Deliver safe, high-quality outcomes and exceptional customer service.

About The Role

• Working across mine sites, ports, and regional operations, you will:
• Perform field-based diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on Caterpillar equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
• Work independently in the field while supported by a high-performing team
• Service fleet including haul trucks, loaders, graders, dozers & ancillary equipment
• Deliver safe, high-quality outcomes and exceptional customer service

What We Are Looking for

• Trade qualification: Plant Mechanic / Heavy Diesel / Auto Electrical
• Proven field service experience (Cat® highly regarded)
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
• Valid driver’s licence (minimum LR, higher classes advantageous)
• Commitment to safety, accountability, and teamwork
• HRWL tickets (Forklift, Dogging, Rigging) – desirable
