Job summary

BUMA Australia is seeking full-time Heavy Diesel Fitters to join the Goonyella team in Moranbah, Queensland. You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and perform repairs and preventive maintenance on Caterpillar, Liebherr, Hitachi, and Komatsu mining equipment both on-site and in the workshop.

The role emphasizes safety, initiative, and the ability to work under pressure, with opportunities for career progression and FIFO-related benefits.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in diesel fitting or heavy vehicle trades.
• Experience with mining equipment (Caterpillar, Liebherr, Hitachi, Komatsu) preferred.
• Ability to perform repairs in field and workshop.
• Strong initiative with safety focus and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance on the mobile fleet at Goonyella.
• Perform inspections to assess condition and return to service.
• Execute preventative maintenance including servicing and adjustments.
• Conduct breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, and component replacements.
• Work both in the field and workshop as required.

About the Role:

We are seeking full-time Heavy Diesel Fitters to join our team at Goonyella. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

• Carrying out repairs and preventative maintenance on the mobile fleet at Goonyella which comprises of Caterpillar, Komatsu and Liebherr mining equipment.
• Carrying out repairs both in the field and workshop.
• Perform inspections to determine condition and suitability to return to service.
• Complete preventative maintenance such as inspections, servicing and adjustments.
• Conduct timely breakdown related maintenance such as troubleshooting, repairs and replacements.

About You:

• Relevant diesel fitter / heavy vehicle trade qualifications or equivalent trade.
• Proven experience with Caterpillar, Liebherr, Hitachi and Komatsu mining equipment highly desirable.
• High levels of initiative and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Safety focus with a high attention to detail to abide by site safety processes.
