Job summary

seek.com.au seeks a dedicated full-time Childcare Chef for an early learning service in Austral. You will prepare nutritious meals daily, follow a rotating menu, and ensure safety, cleanliness and dietary compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and relevant qualifications, with experience in childcare or similar settings, and a passion for healthy kid-friendly meals.

Qualifications

• Qualification in commercial cookery, hospitality, nutrition or related field.
• Experience as Cook/Chef, preferably in childcare, aged care, healthcare or similar setting.
• Experience with menu planning and managing dietary requirements and allergies.
• Current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• Genuine interest in preparing nutritious meals for young children.

Responsibilities

• Prepare morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea based on a rotating menu.
• Cater to children's individual dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Ensure food is safely stored, handled and prepared.
• Order food and kitchen supplies within the allocated budget.
• Check and manage food deliveries.
• Work with the Centre Manager to plan and prepare nutritious menus.
• Maintain accurate records relating to food safety and dietary requirements.
• Communicate positively and professionally with children, families and team members.
• Contribute to a welcoming and positive environment within the service.
