Job description

An opportunity exists for an experienced administrator to become the APS6 Practice Manager of a health facility delivering services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) members in the Albury-Wodonga area. This is a dynamic role, working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the facility and be directly responsible for managing a wide range of administrative and coordination activities to ensure the provision of high quality health care.

These duties can include managing workforce rosters, workplace health and safety requirements, as well as conducting governance and quality assurance activities. Another key aspect of this role is leading a small team and engaging with other relevant stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for ADF members. Effective communication skills are essential, particularly as this position is geographically disconnected from its headquarters.

About our Team

Joint Health Command (JHC) is responsible for the delivery of healthcare services to over 70,000 Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. Through the delivery of reliable, resilient and best practice health services, JHC enables a healthy, ready, and supported Force from enlistment through to transition from service.

Health care services are delivered through eight Joint Health regions across Australia. The APS6 Practice Manager position is part of Joint Health Unit – Victoria & Tasmania and is based at Gaza Ridge Health Centre, South Bandiana, Victoria. Each Joint Health Unit facility provides a range of services which can include medical, nursing, dental, physiotherapy, mental health, rehabilitation, and in-patient care.

The JHC workforce is an integrated, multi-disciplinary team of Defence members, civilians, contractors and professional health providers. We work together to manage around one million patient health service interactions with Defence members each year.

This position reports to the Health Centre Manager at Gaza Ridge Health Centre in South Bandiana.

They will have the ability to anticipate, identify, and respond to changing priorities. They will also be committed to ongoing professional development for both themselves and their team, and be prepared to mentor and train junior team members to achieve optimal outcomes.

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at Baseline Vetting level.
