Overview

Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking a motivated, reliable, and eager-to-learn trainee to join our Safety team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain full-time, paid work experience while working towards a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.

Work Type: Maximum Term Full Time 24 Months
Location: Emerald
Department: People, Safety & Legal
Award & Salary: In accordance with relevant industrial agreements, including the applicable Award, Order or Certified Agreement

Responsibilities

As a trainee, you’ll be exposed to a variety of tasks across workplace health and safety and injury management, gaining valuable hands-on experience through both on-the-job learning and formal training. If you’re passionate about promoting safe workplaces, supporting injured workers, and looking to kick-start a rewarding career in the safety field, this traineeship could be your perfect first step.

To Be Considered For This Opportunity
  • A willingness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Teamwork skills and the capacity to work in a hands-on role that includes outdoor tasks
  • Basic computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • The ability to complete a Nationally Recognised Qualification (Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety) within 24 months
  • Commitment to undertaking the requirements of the associated qualification
  • A minimum Queensland C Class provisional driver’s licence (or eligibility and willingness to obtain one within 6 months of commencement)

To Be Eligible For This Traineeship
  • Be at least 17 years of age
  • Meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship
  • Not hold a qualification equal to or higher than the traineeship qualification in the same field
