Job summary

Greencross Vets GP + Urgent Care Noosa in Noosaville, Sunshine Coast, is seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our GP + Urgent Care team in a full-time role. You'll balance hands-on nursing with mentorship, shaping hospital processes, and ensuring clinical excellence across both GP and Urgent Care services.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or Veterinary Technologist degree) is required.
• Minimum 3+ years of veterinary nursing experience.
• Previous senior nurse, head nurse, team leader, or mentoring experience.
• Strong clinical nursing knowledge and practical skills.
• Experience in emergency, urgent care, referral, or busy GP environments is highly regarded.
• Confidence with triage and patient assessment.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Strong communication and leadership capabilities.
• Collaborative leadership style and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example on the hospital floor and support nurses across GP and Urgent Care.
• Coordinate daily workflow and patient care, and assist with triage and urgent assessments.
• Mentor and coach nursing staff, support training and onboarding, and manage rostering.
• Work with Hospital Manager and Leadership Team to improve efficiencies and outcomes.
• Maintain high clinical standards and ensure protocols are followed.
• Support anaesthetic monitoring and inpatient care as part of clinical duties.
