Job summary

Lake Washington School District is seeking a Head Start Family Support Specialist to deliver comprehensive child and family services at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Preschool.

The role emphasizes eligibility, enrollment, family engagement, and connection to community resources to foster student success. The position requires a relevant degree and experience in family services, and willingness to conduct home visits and evening meetings within a 167‑day calendar.

Qualifications

• AA degree in Human Services or Health with two years' experience in human service program, or serving low-income families preferred.
• BA in related health or human services field plus one year experience working with families.
• MA in human Services field or MSW.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, enroll eligible children and families for the purpose of providing comprehensive services and maintaining enrollment.
• Assess family needs to determine eligibility and develop plans to remove barriers to success.
• Assist parents with forms, health, nutrition, budgeting and job skills to support family stability.
• Orient prospective participants to program requirements and benefits.
• Provide health screenings, referrals and access to community resources.
• Visit families' homes to enroll students and set family goals.
• Plan and facilitate family meetings and involvement events.
• Develop individualized health, nutrition and family plans for enrolled children.
• Participate in workshops and community events to share information.
• Report suspected incidents and maintain health and safety compliance.
• Outreach to low-income communities and build partnerships.
• Administer Head Start program standards and support colleagues.
• Maintain program records and documentation.
