Job summary

About the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced pastoral care leader to join our Middle/Senior School as the Head of Year 9/10. The successful applicant will be appointed as a permanent full-time teacher, with the Head of Year 9/10 leadership role offered as a five-year tenure, with the option to continue following a review. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping the educational outcomes and wellbeing of our senior students. The role rotates year level each year so that the Head of Year follows the cohort through Years 9 and 10.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead the pastoral care and wellbeing of Year 9 and 10 students, fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing year level culture.
  • Provide leadership and support to the Year 9 and 10 Tutor team, mentoring staff and promoting consistent pastoral care practices.
  • Partner with students, families and staff to support student wellbeing, engagement, behaviour and academic success.
  • Design and deliver a contemporary Pastoral Care program that develops resilience, leadership, character and student wellbeing.
  • Coordinate key year-level events and programs, including assemblies, camps, leadership initiatives, orientations and other significant student experiences.
  • Monitor student progress and year-level operations, overseeing attendance, behaviour, reporting processes and student records to ensure the effective day-to-day management of the cohort.
What we’re looking for
  • Demonstrated experience in a pastoral care leadership role
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching at a secondary level, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional student outcomes
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of teachers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • Relevant teaching qualifications and registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia
