Job summary

Mother Teresa Catholic College in Baldivis (WA) seeks an experienced Head of Year to provide leadership, direction and support to students, parents and staff within a designated year group. The role focuses on wellbeing, pastoral care and effective Year 7–12 management.

The successful candidate will hold teaching qualifications with TRBWA registration, and demonstrate strong curriculum leadership, collaboration and communication skills in a Catholic school context.

Qualifications

• Accreditation for Middle Leadership or working towards.
• Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School.
• Minimum five years of teaching experience.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead curriculum and assessment practices across Year 7–12.
• Strong understanding of SCSA curriculum, standards and expectations.
• Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
• Commitment to the Catholic ethos and a lived example of Gospel values in professional life.
• Experience with curriculum mapping and future focussed education innovations.
• Strong proficiency in education data analysis and digital curriculum tools (eg Setqa).

Role Overview

Our Heads of Year provide leadership, direction and support to students, their Parents, Caregivers and Staff identified with a designated year group at the College.

The Head of Year has direct responsibility to:

• Lead and promote the wellbeing of students.
• Lead and direct the respective Pastoral Care Team
• Develop and implement the Pastoral Care Programs
• Promote positive relationships with Parents/Caregivers.
• Oversee the day‑to‑day management of the Year Group
• Complete other duties as determined by the Principal and or delegate

The six Heads of Year form the nucleus of the Pastoral Care Team which also comprises of the College Psychologist, Learning Support Coordinator, and members of the College Executive Team.This team collaborates to promote the wellbeing of all students in the College.
