Contract Type: Permanent/Ongoing Position Full Time

The Head of Teaching and Learning is a significant leadership position in the College which complements and supports the spiritual, pastoral, academic and leadership roles essential to the achievement of the College Mission. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Head of Teaching and Learning provides strategic leadership in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, reporting, and professional learning across the College. The role is responsible for fostering a culture of educational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring that all students are engaged, challenged, and supported to achieve their personal best.

1. KEY RELATIONSHIPS

The Head of Teaching and Learning works in close consultation with the Principal and Deputy Principal and collaborates with the Head of Primary, Head of Secondary, Faculty Leaders, Inclusive Education staff and teaching teams to lead and enhance teaching and learning practices across the College.

2. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Demonstrated commitment to Islamic values and the mission and ethos of Playford College.

Strongly influence the cultivation of a confident Islamic Identity among students, working along staff to model Islamic Values consistently across the school.

Outstanding knowledge of, and proven skills in, curriculum development, assessment and reporting.

A strong understanding of current educational practice as it relates to student learning and achievement.

Demonstrated leadership in implementing whole school teaching and learning initiatives.

Demonstrated ability in mentoring, coaching and developing professional learning opportunities for staff.

Highly developed decision-making skills and a demonstrated ability to think strategically, creatively, analytically and problem-solve.

Strong organisational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritise competing demands.

Strong understanding of contemporary pedagogical research and evidence-based teaching practices.

Highly developed research, writing and computer skills with the ability to format and present information accurately, quickly and logically.

Outstanding ability and experience in classroom teaching.

Remuneration will be based upon the successful applicant’s level of experience as specified in the current Playford College Salaries and Conditions.
