Job summary

Queensland Department of Education Mackay North State High School seeks an experienced Head of Special Education Services to lead inclusive education programs, coordinate support through SEP and ECDP, and guide classroom teachers.

You will work with school leaders to plan effective adjustments, manage casework for students with disabilities, and build strong partnerships with families, agencies and the community to meet program goals.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support through the Special Education Program (SEP) and/or Early Childhood Development Program (ECDP), including guidance for classroom teachers supporting students with disability.
• Advise school leaders, teachers and staff on planning and implementing effective reasonable adjustments.
• Coordinate and support case management for students requiring substantial or extensive adjustments, and facilitate access to departmental and external specialist services, professional development and other supports.
• Contribute to school decision‑making, professional development, planning and goal setting, while coordinating school‑wide systems and data collection to monitor students with disability and meet Nationally Consistent Collection of Data requirements.
• Build and maintain partnerships with parents, government agencies and community groups, and manage human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve program goals.
