Job summary

Strathcona Girls Grammar School is seeking an exceptional educational leader to join the Academic Leadership Team as Head of Science, commencing in 2027. The role focuses on strategic curriculum leadership, teaching excellence and student outcomes within the Science domain.

The Head of Science will lead a team of teachers and laboratory staff, drive curriculum innovation and contribute to school-wide leadership. Victorian context and child-safety standards are central to the role.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Science education and curriculum leadership.
• Experience teaching at VCE level.
• Strong knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum and VCE study designs.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams.
• Understanding of contemporary learning and teaching practices.
• Experience in curriculum development, implementation and review.
• Highly developed ICT and digital learning capabilities.

• Lead and inspire a team of Science teachers and laboratory technicians.
• Drive excellence in curriculum design, assessment and pedagogy.
• Foster collaboration, innovation and professional growth within the department.
• Use evidence and data to improve student engagement, achievement and wellbeing.
• Oversee departmental planning, budgeting and resource allocation.
• Promote contemporary approaches to Science and STEM education.
• Contribute as a member of the Academic Leadership Team.
• Maintain high standards of child safety and professional practice.
