Job summary

Woodridge State High School is seeking an experienced Head of Department - Science to provide strategic and instructional leadership across our Science faculty. The successful applicant will lead a dedicated team of teachers to deliver engaging, high-quality Science programs that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, scientific literacy and strong student outcomes.

This is a temporary full-time position until 10 December 2027, unless otherwise determined.

Qualifications

Demonstrated leadership in school settings.
Ability to drive teaching and learning improvements.
Experience in building collaborative teams.

Educational Leadership: Lead the department in developing and delivering a shared vision that promotes high-quality teaching, learning and outcomes for all students.
High Expectations and Continuous Improvement: Set high standards for student and staff performance while fostering a culture of professional growth, lifelong learning and ongoing improvement.
Inclusive and Equitable Practices: Embed socially just, inclusive and supportive practices that promote equity, participation and positive outcomes for every student.
Collaboration and Partnerships: Develop strong partnerships with students, parents, staff, government agencies and community organisations to strengthen student learning and wellbeing.
Strategic and Resource Management: Provide future-focused strategic leadership, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and effectively manage staffing, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to achieve departmental priorities.
