Job summary

PX Resources Pty Ltd in Melbourne seeks a Head of Risk & Compliance to lead and reshape the function as the business grows. You will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to embed risk considerations into strategy, product decisions and commercial outcomes.

You will build and develop the team, strengthen the risk framework, oversee AML/CTF and financial crime obligations, and drive process improvements through technology and automation.

Job description

We are working with an established payments business that is going through a period of growth and transformation.

ROLE: Head of Risk & Compliance opportunity with scope to build and reshape the function, rather than simply inherit an established operating model.

The role will work closely with senior leadership and key decision-makers across the business, with responsibility for how Risk & Compliance supports growth, products, customers and broader commercial decision-making.

The current team is circa 3 to 4 staff, with the opportunity to review the structure, priorities, processes and broader operating model.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the Risk & Compliance function across the business
• Reviewing and strengthening the overall compliance and risk framework
• Leading and developing the existing team
• Providing practical advice to senior leadership and the broader business
• Supporting regulatory, AML/CTF and financial crime obligations
• Overseeing operational and enterprise risk
• Supporting customer, onboarding and transaction-related risk
• Driving remediation and broader process improvement activity
• Improving the operating model through technology, AI and automation
• Providing reporting and advice to senior management and the Board

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

We are looking for someone who is commercial, pragmatic and hands-on.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Senior Risk and/or Compliance experience within payments OR fintech
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and AML/CTF
• Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to lead and develop teams
• The ability to work closely with senior executives and challenge constructively when required
• A practical approach, with the ability to move between strategy and execution
• An interest in improving processes and using technology and automation more effectively

This could suit an experienced Head of Risk, Head of Compliance, CRO or CCO looking for a new challenge.

We are also open to a strong Senior Manager or 2IC who is ready to step into a broader functional leadership role.
