Job summary

General Pants Co. is seeking an accomplished Head of Retail to own the Australia and New Zealand store experience and drive performance across the network.

You will shape the customer journey in every store, setting standards for excellence and leading a high-performing retail leadership team. Reporting to the CEO and as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will own results, push for continuous improvement, and partner across functions to embed strategy into action on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years as Head of Retail or equivalent senior retail leader.
• Fashion, apparel or lifestyle retail, ideally high volume.
• Proven delivery of EBIT, sales, KPI and cost outcomes across a multi-site portfolio.
• Track record of turning stores and regions around through change and accountability.

About the Role

We're looking for a Head of Retail to own the General Pants store experience and drive retail performance across the Australian and New Zealand store network!

This role owns how our customer experiences the brand in every store, in every centre, across two countries. It owns the commercial result that experience delivers. It sets the standard for operational excellence, builds a bench of high-performing retail leaders, and translates business strategy into clear, executable action on the shop floor.

Reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you'll lead by example: Owning results, challenging the status quo, thinking holistically across the wider business, and partnering across functions to embed, improve and grow General Pants.

What You Will Be Doing

• Own the in-store customer experience in every General Pants store across Australia and New Zealand, from service standards and the service model through to visual merchandising and brand storytelling.
• Get on the floor. Spend real time in stores with Regional, Area and Store teams so you always have a true read on the customer, the obstacles and the opportunity.
• Deliver sales, EBIT, gross margin and profit budgets at store and portfolio level, and drive every KPI that moves them: conversion, ATV, UPT, IPC and sales per hour.
• Turn around underperforming stores and regions with clear plans, named owners and firm timeframes, then scale what's working everywhere else.
• Protect margin through wage-to-sales, retail cost centres, stock loss and stocktake governance, with a sharp eye on the return behind every dollar spent.
• Grow omni performance from store across ship from store, click and collect and returns, and partner with the Customer team to hit CRM acquisition and retention targets.
• Sharpen store operations and data integrity, from replenishment and delivery processing to back of house standards, so teams get time back for the customer.
• Keep every store safe and compliant alongside People & Culture and Operations, covering WHS, employment obligations, award compliance and Alquemie Group standards.
• Coach the retail leadership team, build a genuine internal progression pipeline through talent mapping and succession planning, and make General Pants where the best people in fashion retail want to work.
• Lead network growth through new stores, refurbishments, relocations and property strategy, and bring a test and learn mindset to new formats and ideas.
