Overview

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for a Head of Pre-Contracts - Water to join the Downer team.

The opportunity
The Head of Pre-Contracts Water role is to expand Downer's Energy & Utilities business through the growth and development of the Water Line of Business in Australia and New Zealand. Working to position the business, developing relationships with customers and ensure opportunities fit within the business' growth strategy and align to the "Five Cs" principles (i.e. Capacity, Capability, Counterparty, Contract & Compensation). The successful applicant can envision themselves attending to duties such as:

What you\'ll do

  • Manage the growth and career development of the Pre-Contracts team
  • Actively participate in the commercial review of tenders, facilitating alignment of understanding between operations, commercial and legal representatives
  • Assist in contract negotiations and support Managers at post-tender interviews, as required
  • Lead the development of bid team capability in the establishment of robust R&O registers during the bid phase
  • Manage all required governance associated with opportunities, based on their risk and cost levels, through the Preparation, Negotiation and Hand-over phases
  • Manage and support the development, implementation and review of tendering procedures and systems
  • Support the growth strategy of the Water Line of Business through the management and resourcing of all tender opportunities
  • Liaise with external bodies, clients, consultants, sub-contractors and suppliers to develop bids. Establish, with sub-contractors, terms and conditions of sub-contractor agreement

What we\'re looking for

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in Engineering or Business-related field
  • 5+ years in leading Pre-Contracts teams across Australia &/or New Zealand, having worked not only within contractor organisations, but also customer and/or consulting firms preferred
  • Proven industry experiences working in the Water sector, including water & wastewater treatment, storage and linear network asset delivery markets
  • A deep understanding of market participants, regulatory environment and challenges confronting the sectors in which the Energy & Utilities business operates
  • Highly developed customer service skills and the proven ability to develop, maintain and influence business relationships at all levels with clients, partners and suppliers
  • A combination of commercial and operational acumen through direct Project Management or Commercial Management experience in the industry is desirable
  • Proficient in project management methods and techniques and asset management principles also desirable
  • Substantial experience in engineering principles and construction methodologies
