Job summary

Newman SHS, part of the Department of Education, is seeking a proactive leader to advance mathematics within a whole-school improvement framework. The role leads a cohesive Mathematics team, models best practice, and coaches staff to implement consistent assessment and curriculum approaches.

You will collaborate with staff and community partners to strengthen STEM opportunities for students, contributing to school priorities and high-quality teaching outcomes.

Qualifications

• Hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
• Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

Job description

As a key member of the school leadership team, the role will contribute to whole-school improvement priorities while leading the continued development of a cohesive, high-functioning Mathematics team.

Key responsibilities

• The role will contribute to the development and implementation of whole-school priorities, including the school’s growing focus on STEM, and will work collaboratively with staff, community partners and relevant stakeholders to strengthen opportunities for students.

• The successful applicant will support and build the capability of Mathematics staff through clear curriculum leadership, modelling effective practice, coaching colleagues and promoting consistent approaches to teaching and assessment.
