Job summary

West Technology is seeking a Head of Technology to own the IT strategy and technology function across the group, locally and internationally. You will work with the senior leadership team to shape the tech environment and drive a major uplift of capabilities across Australia and international operations.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver the group IT strategy and technology roadmap, aligning with business objectives.
• Lead, develop and mentor an IT team of 10 across local and international operations.
• Drive modernisation and uplift of the technology stack across Australian and international operations.
• Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities where technology can improve efficiency, scalability and performance.
• Provide technical leadership across IT infrastructure, networks, applications and cloud environments.
• Ensure platforms and systems are standardised, secure and scalable across the group.
• Oversee technology projects and transformation initiatives within timeframes and budgets.
• Lead cyber security, governance and risk management initiatives.
• Explore emerging technologies, including AI and automation, to support innovation and growth.

About Your New Role

As the Head of Technology, you will take ownership of the IT strategy and technology function across the group, both locally and internationally.

This is a highly visible role where you will work closely with the senior leadership team, influence business decisions and lead a significant uplift of the technology environment across its Australian and international operations.

Other key tasks include:

• Own and deliver the group IT strategy and technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Lead, develop and mentor an established IT team of 10.

• Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities where technology can improve efficiency, scalability and performance.

About You

You are an ambitious technology professional who has progressed from a technical background into leadership and is now looking for an opportunity to take the next step in your career.

You bring strong technical knowledge, but importantly, you understand how technology can support business objectives and deliver commercial value.

You will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience leading and developing IT teams within a medium to large business.
• A strong technical foundation across infrastructure, applications and IT operations.
• Experience supporting a user community of 200+ employees, ideally across multiple locations or international operations.
• A track record of delivering technology improvements, infrastructure upgrades or transformation initiatives.
• Experience contributing to IT strategy and technology roadmaps.
• The ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and communicate technical concepts in commercial terms.
• A practical, hands‑on approach combined with the ability to think strategically.
• Relevant IT qualifications, with postgraduate business qualifications viewed favourably.

You may currently be an IT Manager, Technology Manager or a 2IC within a larger technology function who is ready to step into your first Head of Technology position.

Interpersonally, you are an engaging communicator who brings energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to challenge the status quo. You enjoy taking ownership, driving change and seeing the results of your work.
