Job summary

weave. Recruitment partners with an established mid-sized Australian bank to appoint a Head of Information Technology in Melbourne. The role offers a 6-month contract with a genuine intent to convert to permanent and a hybrid work pattern with three days in the Melbourne office.

You will own BAU across cloud, infrastructure and service delivery, govern core banking systems, and drive risk, regulatory readiness and supplier performance for reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior technology operations leadership in banking or regulated environments.
• Strong governance, operational risk and resilience experience.
• Experience with APRA CPS 230 and CPS 234.
• Proven incident, continuity and disaster recovery capability.

Responsibilities

• Own BAU performance across cloud, infrastructure, network and workplace tech.
• Govern core banking applications, Dynamics CRM and QRM support.
• Maintain technology risk, controls and regulatory readiness.
• Manage strategic technology suppliers and outsourced infra performance.
• Lead incident, problem, change and service level management.
• Build capability and succession within the operational leadership team.

Melbourne | Hybrid, 3 days in office | $275,000 to $300,000 plus super | 6 month contract, with an opportunity to convert to permanent

What's In It For You

• Direct reporting line to the Chief Technology Officer
• The role carries end to end ownership, cloud and infrastructure through to service delivery, business systems and technology GRC
• This is a focused operational remit. Transformation, product and change sit under a separate function, which means this role is free to concentrate on reliability, resilience and supplier performance without competing delivery priorities

What You'll Be Doing

• Owning BAU performance across cloud, infrastructure, network and workplace technology
• Governing business systems support, including core banking applications, Dynamics CRM and QRM
• Holding Line 1 technology risk and control outcomes, including audit and regulatory readiness
• Managing strategic technology suppliers and outsourced infrastructure performance
• Leading incident, problem, change and service level management across the technology estate
• Building capability and succession across the operational leadership team

What We're Looking For

• Extensive senior technology operations leadership in banking, financial services or another regulated environment
• Strong knowledge of technology governance, operational risk and resilience practices
• Working knowledge of APRA prudential standards, including CPS 230 and CPS 234
• Demonstrated experience with major incident management, continuity and disaster recovery.
