Job summary

CSIRO seeks an experienced leader to shape and strengthen how Australia\'s national science agency works with Indigenous data, knowledge and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP).

The role provides strategic leadership across Indigenous Data and ICIP, working with Indigenous communities, CSIRO’s Indigenous Science and Engagement Office, legal and governance teams, and national/international partners.

Qualifications

• High level of cultural capability shaped by Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
• Experience in Indigenous governance, policy development and engagement.
• Ability to influence internal and external audiences to achieve strategic outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of CSIRO's Governance of Indigenous Data Framework and ICIP policies.
• Oversee ICIP compliance and commitments aligned with governance requirements.
• Provide Indigenous knowledge and perspective for strategy and decision-making.
• Collaborate across CSIRO to embed Governance of Indigenous Data and ICIP principles.
• Represent CSIRO on internal and external committees and liaison on ICIP matters.
• Monitor national and international trends and translate into policies and improvements.
• Develop training and reporting approaches to strengthen organisational understanding.
