Job summary

Epic Energy seeks an experienced Head of ICT to lead corporate IT, networks and OT, delivering a secure, reliable and scalable technology environment to support safe, efficient operations.

Reporting to the CFO, you will develop a three‑to‑five‑year ICT strategy, oversee cybersecurity and risk, manage budgets and vendor relationships, and mentor a high‑performing team across digital transformation and reporting.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in ICT with 7–10 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong knowledge across ICT operations, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity and AI technologies.

Epic Energy is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Information & Communications Technology (ICT) to lead the technology function across corporate IT, networks and operational technology (OT).

This is a pivotal leadership role for an ICT professional who can combine strategic vision with operational excellence ensuring the technology environment is secure, reliable and scalable while identifying opportunities to leverage digital transformation, automation, data and emerging technologies.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this newly created role has been established to provide strategic leadership across Epic Energy's technology environment and develop a pragmatic roadmap for the future. Epic Energy owns and operates energy infrastructure that is critical to South Australia, and this role will assess the current technology landscape, identify key risks and opportunities, and lead the delivery of a three to five-year ICT strategy that strengthens resilience, compliance and business performance.

You will lead a dedicated team, oversee cybersecurity and operational technology environments, and ensure technology continues to support safe, reliable and efficient operations while enabling future growth.

You will take ownership of a broad and critical ICT portfolio, providing leadership across:

• ICT strategy & governance - Develop and implement a long-term ICT strategy aligned with business objectives, values and industry best practice.
• Technology leadership - Lead, develop and mentor the ICT team across business support, digital transformation, service desk, systems and network administration, records management and cybersecurity.
• Cybersecurity & resilience - Own and oversee cybersecurity policies, controls and practices, including alignment with the Australian Energy Sector Cyber Security Framework (AESCSF), compliance with Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) obligations as well as business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
• Systems & infrastructure - Ensure reliable, available and resilient ICT systems, including critical operational systems such as SCADA and customer reporting .
• Business partnering - Build trusted relationships with leaders and teams across the organisation, providing strategic ICT advice, understanding business needs and identifying technology solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and support organisational objectives.
• Projects & investment - Oversee ICT projects from scope through to delivery, while managing budgets, resources, risks, milestones and outcomes.
• Technology partners - Manage third-party vendors, service providers and technology partners, including contracts and performance.
• Business improvement - Enable secure access to business data, improve reporting and monitoring, and oversee application management, technology selection and integrations.

You will be an established ICT leader with the depth of experience and strategic capability to operate confidently at senior leadership level.

Essential experience includes:

• 15+ years' ICT experience, including 7-10 years in a senior leadership role as an ICT Manager or equivalent. Strong technical knowledge across ICT operations, infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity and AI technologies/applications.
• Demonstrated success leading digital transformation and automation initiatives.
• Proven ability to lead, develop and inspire high-performing teams.
• Experience aligning technology strategy with broader business needs and strategic priorities.
• Strong end-to-end ICT operations experience, including service delivery, systems performance and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of data analytics, reporting platforms and/or business intelligence tools.
• Strong vendor, service provider and technology partner management capability.
• Demonstrated experience managing ICT budgets, with a focus on cost control, value and investment priorities.
• Experience overseeing cybersecurity, risk management and data protection controls.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Highly regarded:

• Experience in the energy, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance environments relevant to the energy industry.
