Job summary

Optiver is seeking a Head of Observability Platform to lead observability as a business-critical capability across its globally distributed trading environment.

You will own strategy, architecture, operating model, and roadmap for a shared observability platform, enabling engineers, operators, and automated systems to collect, query, understand, and act on metrics, logs, traces, and health signals across Optiver’s global setup.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering, SRE, platform, infrastructure, or observability teams.
• Experience owning or shaping a platform capability with measurable outcomes.
• Deep understanding of modern observability across logs, metrics, traces, events, dashboards, and health.
• Experience designing large-scale observability platforms with ingest pipelines and storage.
• Strong technical judgement, leadership, and delivery discipline.
• Ability to influence across engineering teams.
• Pragmatic approach balancing global standardisation with regional autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Set the global strategy, architecture, operating model, and roadmap for Optiver’s observability platform.
• Lead and develop a globally distributed team of engineers, shaping team mandate and capability.
• Define what good observability means at Optiver, including telemetry quality, instrumentation, alerting, dashboards, service health, and workflows.
• Guide technical direction across telemetry collection, ingestion, storage, query, visualization, alerting, automation, and platform reliability.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness as telemetry grows.
• Improve developer and operator experience through self-service workflows, documentation, patterns, APIs, dashboards, and tooling.
• Partner with engineering teams to drive adoption.
