Job summary

Service Stream Limited is seeking a Head of Financial Systems in Melbourne to own the core Finance systems, led by SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, and to build the Finance Systems team. You will drive governance, data quality and system upgrades, while partnering with Finance, GBIS and the broader business.

The role leads ERP BAU, releases, migrations, integrations and continuous improvement, with a focus on cost efficiency, user experience and robust controls.

Job description

High-impact newly created role - Head of Financial Systems. We’re embarking on a major SAP implementation and transformation that is critical to positioning our fast-growing, ASX-listed organisation for long‑term success. This is a unique opportunity to own our core Finance systems and build your own team.

About the role

You will be the functional owner of our core Finance systems, led by SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, and lead the Finance Systems team which you will build. You will ultimately be accountable for Finance systems governance, controls, functional support and financial data governance, and for driving continuous improvement and innovation in how Finance uses its systems and data. You will lead Finance through SAP releases, acquisitions, business integrations and the transition of legacy systems.

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership and functional ownership - Leading and optimising Finance Systems operations, overseeing team capability, support, data integrity, training and change management, while driving the systems roadmap, service delivery, governance and stakeholder engagement across Finance, GBIS and the broader business.

Governance, controls and access - Defining and governing Finance system requirements, approvals, user access and controls, ensuring secure, compliant and efficient management of financial data, system changes and segregation of duties.

Data governance and master data - Leading financial data governance and master data management, ensuring data quality, standards, controls and successful data migration processes to support accurate and compliant financial operations.

Functional support and connected systems – Directing Finance systems support and governance, ensuring effective incident management, integration controls, compliance documentation and user enablement to support reliable financial operations.

Change, innovation and continuous improvement - Leading Finance systems transformation and continuous improvement, overseeing SAP upgrades, business integrations, innovation and change initiatives to enhance efficiency, user experience and business performance.

Stakeholder and partner management - Managing Finance Systems stakeholder relationships, service performance and governance reporting to support strategic priorities, risk management and informed decision‑making.

About you

You have senior leadership experience in financial systems or ERP functional leadership within a large, complex organisation. You will also have SAP S/4 Hana exposure and strong knowledge of accounting processes, financial controls and data governance. You have an innovative mindset, with the commercial judgement to balance value, user experience, control, cost and sustainability.

Our ideal candidate will also have:

Experience leading ERP business-as-usual support and releases, and delivering major implementations, acquisitions, data migration and cutover.

A track record of applying new technology, automation or analytics to improve finance processes and outcomes.

Proven people leadership and influence with senior stakeholders in a national, multi-entity environment; listed, regulated, infrastructure or project-based experience would be desirable.

Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business or related discipline.

CA, CPA, SAP S/4HANA or relevant service management certification is highly desirable.
