UGL Pty Limited is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering – Industrial to lead the delivery of engineering services across the Energy & Industrial business, shaping project outcomes and tender success. The role emphasizes strategic planning, capability development and strong client collaboration to drive growth.

The Head will guide engineering capability, set divisional objectives, and work with PMO to deliver technical excellence across solar, storage, wind, hydrogen and ammonia projects

Qualifications

• Appropriate Engineering qualifications including extensive New Energy or similar industry experience.
• Knowledge and proven experience in engineering management of complex projects with manufacturing processes.

• Provide senior management and strategic leadership with clear objectives, KPIs and targets.
• Develop and maintain innovative delivery methodologies with PMO to support energy markets.

UGL’s Energy and Industrial national business unit is experiencing rapid growth, and we need motivated and capable people to join our team. UGL’s in-house engineering and design capability, together with our strong project delivery and operations and maintenance expertise puts us in a strong position in the market. Our target project opportunities include Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Wind Projects, as well as Hydrogen and Ammonia projects.

As we continue to deliver & evolve, we are looking for an experienced Head of Engineering – Industrial to help us shape our future projects.

About the role

The Head of Engineering leads the delivery of engineering services across the UGL Energy & Industrial business, ensuring the successful execution of projects and tenders while driving the development of engineering capability and technical excellence to support business growth. The role contributes to strategic planning, identifies new business opportunities, maintains strong customer relationships, and collaborates with business leaders to deliver effective business development and project execution strategies.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Development of Engineering capability to facilitate business growth within the Energy & Industrial industry / market sectors
• Provide strong senior management and strategic leadership and direction, establishing clear divisional objectives, setting standards, targets and goals, implementing controls and KPIs to measure and compare performance (profit, cost, quality, time etc.) within the Engineering team
• Develop and maintain innovative Delivery Methodologies and work with the Head of Technical Solutions / PMO to utilize technical solutions for all Energy & Industrial business markets
• Develop relationships of trust and understanding with the clients – both internal & external
• Work cooperatively with the Business Development Managers & Head of Technical Solutions / PMO to pursue major opportunities.
• Attend Management Review Meetings and identify and propose solutions to overcome quality management problems.

Your skills and experience:

• Appropriate Engineering qualifications including extensive Ne Energy or similar industry experience
• Knowledge and proven experience in engineering management of complex engineering and design projects, together with experience in manufacturing processes and principles.
• General knowledge of Australian and International codes and standards and the applicable statutory requirements.
• High level understanding of operational, quality and improvement strategies & activities
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent general computer literacy skills as well as specialist knowledge of discipline-based applications
