Job summary

Preacta Recruitment is seeking a Head of Data in Sydney or Melbourne to lead a data function during a period of rapid expansion. The role requires building and guiding a data team, shaping strategy, and delivering a single trusted data view across the business.

You’ll own governance, partner with Marketing on CDP integrations, and manage platform costs while driving self-service analytics. Hybrid work with 3 days in office.

Qualifications

• Proven people leadership; you’ve grown a data team.
• Track record of driving change and credibility for a data function.
• Hands-on depth in modern data platforms, ideally Databricks.
• Ability to tie data investment to revenue, cost and risk.
• Experience setting up governance and operating models.
• Martech or customer data experience is a big plus.
• Fintech or payments background is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Set a clear, commercially grounded data strategy and roadmap.
• Review the platform migration and decide what needs to change.
• Lead, coach and grow a team of data engineers and analysts.
• Stand up governance, ownership and a single trusted view of the customer.
• Partner with Marketing on customer data, CDP and martech integration.
• Own platform cost and budget decisions.
• Drive self-service analytics and data literacy across the business.
