Job summary

VGW is seeking a Head of Commercial Finance to lead the financial strategy for our Sydney-based operations. You will partner with product, marketing and operational leaders to provide insights that drive better commercial decisions and disciplined cost management.

The role requires a strong background in FP&A, budgeting and forecast ownership, and experience translating financial data into clear business language for executive leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Finance with FP&A and/or commercial partnering experience in high growth environments.
• Professional certifications: CA, CFA, CPA or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly financial performance reporting and develop granular, product-level P&L views to explain the commercial story to executives.
• Lead end-to-end annual budget and rolling forecasting, including scenario models for market/regulatory conditions.
• Provide commercial finance analysis to support pricing, promotions, market expansions/exits, and platform investments.
• Own the operational cost base for core businesses, partner with leaders to understand drivers and control costs.
• Coach, develop and mentor direct reports and build a high performing team.
• Communicate a clear vision for the team and model the behaviors expected.

Head of Commercial Finance

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Finance team in Sydney and are currently looking for a Head of Commercial Finance to join the team.

The purpose of this senior role is to be the financial leader of the core business. This will include partnering closely with product, marketing and operational leaders who run the social plus brands day to day, giving them the financial insight to make better commercial decisions, hold performance to plan, and manage costs with discipline.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Owning monthly financial performance reporting and developing granular, product-level P&L views across our social games portfolio to explain the commercial story behind the numbers to executive leadership.
• Leading the end-to-end annual budget and rolling forecasting processes, including producing scenario models to evaluate the impact of evolving market and regulatory conditions.
• Providing commercial finance analysis to support key business decisions, including pricing, promotional strategies, market expansions or exits, and platform investments.
• Own the operational cost base for the core businesses, partnering with functional leaders to understand cost drivers, identify efficiency opportunities, and hold costs to plan.
• Coach, develop and mentor direct reports.
• Communicate an inspiring vision to the team, including role modelling the competencies and behaviours expected of a high performing team.

What you will bring to the role:

• 10+ years in Finance with strong FP&A and/or commercial business partnering experience in complex, high growth environments.
• CA, CFA, CPA or equivalent,
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience owning a full budget and forecast cycle from end to end for a significant and profitable business unit.
• Experience partnering with non-finance business leaders in marketing, product and operations with the strong ability to translate financial complexity into clear commercial language is a must.
• Experience in fast paced industries where revenue is driven by customer acquisition and retention economics is highly desirable.
• Experience in digital-centric, product-monetisation businesses, such as online subscription services, e-commerce, or online gaming is highly desirable.
